Estimate only. This calculator approximates scaled scores from raw counts using a simple linear model. The real SAT uses adaptive modules and IRT-based equating that cannot be replicated exactly — actual scores may differ meaningfully from this estimate. Official scores come only from College Board. How digital SAT scoring works
The digital SAT has 98 questions across two sections: Reading & Writing (54 questions, 64 minutes) and Math (44 questions, 70 minutes). Each section is split into two adaptive modules — your performance on Module 1 determines whether Module 2 is the harder or easier version, which affects the highest score you can reach.
College Board scales your answers to a 200–800 score per section (400–1600 total) using item response theory (IRT) and equating — a proprietary process with no public raw-to-scaled conversion table. Because of that, this calculator (like every third-party SAT score calculator) uses a linear approximation and always shows a range instead of a single number.
- Reading & Writing: 54 questions, scored 200–800
- Math: 44 questions, scored 200–800
- Total score range: 400–1600
